Overview
Classfolio supports 10+ activity types that can be mixed within a single lesson. Each activity behaves differently — some are marked automatically, some use AI, and some are for discussion without a right or wrong answer.
Add activities to a lesson using the slide builder. You can add as many as you need and reorder them at any time.
Activity types
Multiple choice
AutomaticStudents choose one answer from up to four options. Responses display as a live bar chart on the teacher screen. Reveal the correct answer at any time. Great for retrieval practice and quick checks.
Short answer
AI markedStudents type a free-text response of a few words to a couple of sentences. Marked by AI against your model answer. Best for factual recall and brief explanations.
Extended response
AI markedLonger open-ended answers — paragraphs, arguments, or structured responses. Criterion-referenced AI marking. Ideal for analytical or evaluative questions.
Mind map
Not markedStudents build a branching idea map from a central concept you set. Individual maps feed into a shared class mind map on the teacher view. Great for brainstorms and concept mapping.
Poll
Not markedStudents submit a word, phrase, or short opinion. No right or wrong answer. Good for reading the room, gauging confidence, or opening discussion. Responses display in real time.
Word cloud
Not markedStudents submit words that build into a live word cloud — more popular answers appear larger. Perfect for vocabulary brainstorms and concept summaries.
Drag & drop
AutomaticStudents sort, rank, or categorise items by dragging them into zones. Marked automatically based on correct placement. Good for ordering processes, categorising items, and sorting tasks.
Fill the gaps
Automatic / AIStudents complete a passage by typing into blank spaces or selecting from a word bank. Exact-match answers are marked automatically; open gaps can use AI marking.
Draw
Teacher reviewedStudents annotate an image or draw on a blank canvas. Good for labelling diagrams, sketching graphs, or showing working in maths and science. Teacher reviews responses in the moderation view.
Match pairs
AutomaticStudents connect items on the left with their matches on the right. Marked automatically. Great for vocabulary, key terms, causes and effects, and definitions.
Flashcards
Flashcard decks are not standalone activities but can be attached to lessons or assignments. Students work through term-definition pairs, marking each card as Got it or Still learning. Good for vocabulary and key-term revision.
