Calculation

Pupils show their working and give a final answer, with units if you set them.

Marked automaticallyOn paper: a picture you mark

Good for

A worked problem in maths or science: the speed of a car, the area of a shape, the moles in a sample.

Marked against your answer, to the tolerance you set. Working shown with a wrong answer can still earn one mark.

How to set it up

  1. 1In the lesson editor, choose Add slide and pick Calculation.
  2. 2Write the problem in the question box.
  3. 3Give the correct final answer, its units and any tolerance, and say whether pupils must show working.
  4. 4Preview it as a pupil, then run the Readiness check before you launch: it flags anything still missing.

Tips from the classroom

  • Turn on “Accept the same answer written another way” so 3/4 and 0.75 both score.
  • Give it 2 marks or more: with working shown, a wrong final answer earns one mark for the method.
