Accessibility
Classfolio is committed to making its platform accessible to as many learners as possible. This page describes the accessibility features currently available and our ongoing commitment to improvement.
Classfolio does not currently make a formal WCAG 2.1 compliance claim. We are working to improve accessibility across the platform over time.
Current features
When teachers create or launch an assessment, they can enable a read-aloud option that allows questions to be read aloud to students. This supports learners with dyslexia, visual impairment, and other reading difficulties.
Classfolio uses responsive typography and fluid layouts that support browser-native text resizing. Students and teachers can increase text size using their browser settings without breaking the layout of the platform.
Core navigation and interactive elements throughout Classfolio support standard keyboard interaction. Users can navigate between elements using the Tab key and activate controls without a pointer device.
Students and teachers sign in using their existing school Google or Microsoft accounts. This removes the need for students to manage separate passwords, reducing a common barrier for learners with memory difficulties or cognitive accessibility needs.
Classfolio supports pseudonymous display names — for example “Smith, J” rather than a student's full name — which can benefit students who are more comfortable with reduced personal data exposure in a classroom setting.
Browser tools
Because Classfolio runs in a standard web browser, students and teachers can use any accessibility tools supported by their browser or operating system. The following have been considered in the platform's design.
Classfolio uses semantic HTML and ARIA labels on interactive elements. Screen reader compatibility varies by browser and reader — we are working to improve coverage over time.
Windows High Contrast Mode and browser-level forced colour schemes are partially supported. Some visual elements may not fully adapt in all high contrast modes.
The platform is designed to remain usable at browser zoom levels up to 200%. Most layouts reflow at higher zoom levels to prevent horizontal scrolling.
Increasing your browser's default font size will increase text throughout Classfolio. Layouts are responsive and adjust accordingly.
Our commitment
Classfolio is committed to improving accessibility over time. We recognise that many of the students who use Classfolio have diverse learning needs, and we take that responsibility seriously.
Future development work will include testing against WCAG 2.1 AA criteria, increasing screen reader coverage, and expanding the accessibility options available to teachers when creating content.
