How to set it up

  1. 1Open the assessment in the editor and choose Add question.
  2. 2Pick Fill the gaps.
  3. 3Write the passage and mark each gap, with the answers you will accept.
  4. 4Turn on the word bank if you want pupils to choose rather than recall.
  5. 5Open Practice Preview to answer it as a pupil would, then run the readiness check before you set it.

Tips from the classroom

  • Add a distractor or two to the word bank so the last gap is not a gift.
  • Accept the alternatives you would accept on paper: plurals, other spellings, synonyms.
