Topic Hub collections

What does this do?

A collection is a whole unit of Topic Hubs in order — for example every topic of an exam unit. You pin the collection to a class as one card, and pupils move through it with a contents list and next and previous buttons. You can also have AI write one hub for each spec point you choose and add them to the collection.

When should I use it?

Use a collection when a class needs a set of hubs rather than one — a GCSE unit, a half-term's topics, or a revision programme before mocks.

How do I use it?

  1. 1On the Topic Hubs page, under Collections, choose New collection and give it a title
  2. 2Add hubs you have already made with Add a Topic Hub, and use the arrows to put them in order
  3. 3To fill a unit quickly, use One Topic Hub for each spec point: link a curriculum document, tick the outcomes and choose Generate
  4. 4Read each new hub — they are drafts — then choose Pin to classes to pin the whole collection
  5. 5Pupils see the collection as one card on the class space and open it at the first hub

Common mistakes

  • Pinning an empty collection — a collection with no hubs does not appear for pupils
  • Adding a colleague's hub — a collection only ever shows hubs you own
  • Deleting a collection and expecting its hubs to go too — the hubs are kept; only the collection is removed
