Multilingual Translation

What does this do?

AI-powered translation for lessons, assessments, assignments, questionnaires and learning resources. Teachers create content once, in English, and generate additional language versions. Students switch between English and their preferred home language. Teachers can also translate a student's free-text response back into English for marking and feedback.

When should I use it?

Use this for multilingual classrooms, international schools, or any student learning in a language that is not their first language.

How do I use it?

  1. 1Open the Translations panel from the lesson, assessment, or assignment editor
  2. 2Choose which languages to generate — content is translated automatically, preserving structure and placeholders
  3. 3Enable translation for the class or for specific students
  4. 4Students see a language toggle and can switch between English and their home language
  5. 5For free-text responses, use Translate Response in moderation or results to read a student's answer in English before marking

Common mistakes

  • Forgetting that submission and marking always use the original English values — translation is for reading, not for changing what's marked
  • Not re-generating translations after editing the English source — stale translations are flagged automatically
  • Enabling translation platform-wide instead of per class when only one class needs it
