Lesson Builder

What does this do?

A full-featured drag-and-drop editor for building interactive lessons. Supports 22+ slide types including multiple choice, short answer, polls, exit tickets, YouTube embeds, mind maps, drag-drop, fill-the-gaps, match pairs, word clouds, oracy, diamond 9, retrieval grids, and more. AI can generate slides, mark schemes are configurable per question, and flashcard decks can be attached.

When should I use it?

Use this whenever you want to create or edit a lesson. It's your main content authoring workspace — build from scratch, enhance slides with AI, or import from a PDF or PowerPoint.

How do I use it?

  1. 1Open a lesson from your library or click New Lesson
  2. 2Add slides via the Add Slide button — search by type or browse the picker
  3. 3Edit each slide's content, set the correct answer, and configure marking (AI or deterministic)
  4. 4Drag slides to reorder them using the left panel handles
  5. 5Attach flashcard decks or retrieval grids via the lesson settings
  6. 6Preview as a student or teacher using the Preview button
  7. 7Run the Readiness check before launching to catch missing answers or empty slides
  8. 8Enable sharing to generate a share code for colleagues

Common mistakes

  • Not generating an AI mark scheme for short-answer questions before launching — students won't receive feedback
  • Launching with empty slides (the readiness checker blocks this but is easy to overlook)
  • Forgetting to check student preview before going live
