Lessons
Audio clips on questions, tasks and slides
What does this do?
Attach a sound recording to an assessment question, an assignment task, a lesson slide or a Topic Hub. Any audio file up to 10 minutes is converted to a small, good-quality stereo file. You can limit how many times pupils listen, and on a lesson slide choose whether the teacher plays it or pupils play it on their own devices.
When should I use it?
Use it for listening questions in music or languages, a podcast clip to discuss, an interview extract, or instructions pupils can replay.

How do I use it?
- 1In the editor, choose Add an audio clip and pick an audio file
- 2Wait while it says Converting the audio…
- 3Give it a title pupils will see
- 4On a question or task, add notes for marking — or choose Write the notes with AI — because the AI that marks answers cannot hear the recording
- 5Set How many times pupils can listen if it is a listening test
- 6On a lesson slide, choose The teacher plays it or Pupils play it on their devices
Common mistakes
- Leaving the marking notes empty — the AI marking answers about the clip only knows what is in your notes
- Treating the listen limit as exam security — it is counted on the pupil's device
- Expecting pupils to hear it on their devices when the teacher plays it — only your screen has a player, so the room hears it once
