Classes

Approving Class Space messages

What does this do?

The queue holding every pupil message and reply waiting to be seen by the class. Nothing a pupil writes is visible to anyone else until it is approved here. You are notified whenever something arrives. Replies wait here as well as top-level messages.

When should I use it?

Check it whenever the bell shows a Class Space notification. Approval cannot be switched off, so the queue is the only route from a pupil writing something to the class reading it.

How do I use it?

  1. 1Open the Class Space and choose the Moderation tab
  2. 2Read the message — the author and the time it was sent are shown
  3. 3Approve to publish it to the class
  4. 4Return it if the pupil should reword it — they can edit and resubmit
  5. 5Reject it if it should not be published at all
  6. 6Use Remove on an already-published message to take it down

Common mistakes

  • Not checking the queue — pupils see 'waiting for approval' and assume they have been ignored
  • Rejecting when you meant Return — Return lets the pupil try again, Reject does not
  • Forgetting that trainee moderators can also approve, if you have given them that level
  • Assuming a lapsed plan locks you out — it does not. Approving, returning and removing keep working, because the content is already there and still needs a decision
