Lessons

Download a lesson as PowerPoint

What does this do?

Turns any lesson into a PowerPoint file in Classfolio's style, with the same layouts and pictures as the online lesson. YouTube and Vimeo videos play inside the slides, and your teacher notes become speaker notes.

When should I use it?

Use this when you or a colleague want to teach from PowerPoint, or need a copy of a lesson to share or present without Classfolio.

How do I use it?

  1. 1On the Lessons page, click the PowerPoint icon on a lesson card — or, in the lesson editor, click the PowerPoint button next to Share
  2. 2Wait a moment while the file is made, then open the downloaded .pptx in PowerPoint
  3. 3Activities such as multiple choice, fill the gaps, matching and ordering become a task slide followed by an answers slide that fades in when you move on
  4. 4Ratings, confidence checks and polls put the scale or the options on the slide — the speaker notes suggest pupils show their answer on mini whiteboards
  5. 5Activities that only work live, such as word clouds, get a slide that says they run in Classfolio

Common mistakes

  • Editing the PowerPoint and expecting Classfolio to change — the download is a copy; changes are not sent back
  • Opening it in an old version of PowerPoint — embedded videos need PowerPoint 2019 or Microsoft 365 and an internet connection, but every video slide also has a link
  • Expecting pupils' answers in the file — a PowerPoint has no class responses; launch the lesson in Classfolio to collect them
