Lessons
Drawing on the board
What does this do?
Draw on a slide while you teach a live lesson, the way you would on an interactive whiteboard. Pupils see a picture of the board with your drawing on it, in a Teacher's board panel on their own screens, and each board is kept in their Folio after the lesson.
When should I use it?
Use it to annotate a diagram, work through a calculation, underline a quotation or circle the mistake in an answer, so that pupils working on their own devices see exactly what you marked up at the front. It works the same in staff training, where trainees see the Trainer's board.

How do I use it?
- 1Launch the lesson live and open the presenter
- 2Choose Draw: the drawing tools appear over the slide
- 3Pick the Pen or the Highlighter and a colour, then draw with a mouse, a pen or your finger
- 4Use Undo to take back the last line, or Clear to start the board again — a cleared board is still kept for the Folio
- 5Choose Stop drawing to go back to teaching the slide; your drawing stays on that slide
- 6Pupils see the Teacher's board panel on their screens; they can make it bigger or hide it
- 7After the lesson, open the session review: each board is listed under Your boards from this lesson. Untick Show in pupils' Folios for any board that shows pupils' names or answers
Common mistakes
- Expecting the drawing to sit on top of each pupil's own slide — pupils see a picture of your board instead, because their screens are laid out differently and some read the slide in another language
- Drawing over names or answers and leaving the board in pupils' Folios — untick it in the review
- Looking for drawing on the phone remote — draw from the presenter
